Maharashtra lover murder case arrest

Police in India’s Maharashtra state have arrested a woman along with her husband, brother, and a friend for allegedly murdering her lover and disposing of his body in a drum thrown into a drain.

According to Indian media reports, the incident took place on April 3 when the victim, identified as Arbaz Maqsood Ali Khan, left his home saying he was going to Dadar for work but never returned. After several hours of unsuccessful attempts to trace him, his father filed a missing person report at a local police station.

Investigators later began analyzing Arbaz’s call records and location data, which helped establish his last known movements. His phone activity indicated that he was last traced to the Vasai area. Police also found that his girlfriend, identified as Mahi Jabeen Shaikh, was present in the same vicinity at the time of his disappearance, raising suspicion.

Following this lead, police detained the woman for questioning. According to an Additional Commissioner of Police, she initially denied involvement but later confessed after sustained interrogation.

Authorities said the woman admitted that the murder was carried out with the help of her husband, brother, and a friend. She allegedly stated that the motive was to extract money from the victim. However, when their attempts failed, the group reportedly tied Arbaz’s hands, assaulted him with a plastic pipe, and killed him.

Police further revealed that after the murder, the accused placed the body inside a green drum and disposed of it in a drain in the Mumbra area in an attempt to destroy evidence.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to recover additional forensic evidence and determine the full sequence of events. Officials have confirmed that all four accused are in custody and will be produced before the court as legal proceedings continue.
